Module 3 question 8

For each of the 3 menus above, indicate the process by which the foods are received. This also includes the provider(s), regularity and costs.

Meat Products:

ê Prima Slaghuis: This is a butchery in Bela-Bela where we buy our meat from, We buy everything from venicine to live stock. Usually we have to buy new meat stock once a month when there is little on the farm.

ê Theoariem: This is a local butchery near the farm; we buy everything from venicine to livestock. When there is no meat available on the farm be will buy meat from this supplier.

ê Sondela: We use all our recourses on the farm. Shoot out over populating animals like warthog, impala & guinneafowl. Animals sometimes gets hurt badly & we have to shoot them, animals are caught in snares & die or guests run them over with vehicles, then we use the meat of the dead animals for your carnivores. We usually shoot out new animals once a week because we have a lot of carnivores to provide for.

Chicken:

ê Altyd iets: This is where we buy our big chickens that we use only for our owls, Servals & caracals, it’s about 2 km outside the farm. We buy about once in 2 weeks because we cut each chicken in half for 1 animal & we buy about 15 chickens at once.

ê Midway chicks: We buy our day old chicks here, we feed it to our owls, hawk, selvals & caracals. We buy these small chicks every month, there’s about a 120-150 chicks in one bag so they last quite long.

Herbivore feeds:

NKT: We use to buy our Boskos (Game pellets) at this producer. We buy about 5 bags of Game pellets, once a month.

Aalzu: We currently buy all our game feeds like: Game pellets, Ostrich feed & Lucerne. We buy 5 bags of game pellets once a month. We buy 1 bag Ostrich pellets once a month. We buy 4 bags of Lucerne twice a month.

Sondela: We bale up our own foxtail buffalo grass for all the herbivores to eat: Giraffes, zebra, nyala, blesbok, impala & blue wilde beest. This is seasonal grass that we don’t pay for because we grow & harvest it ourselves.
