Module 3 question 3.

Describe the benefits of the policies and procedures. Determine a draft list of policies and procedures that you think that will be needed in the wildlife center.

é Policies and Procedures are the link between the Company's Vision and its day-to-day operations. Written policies & procedures help employees to understand their roles and responsibilities. Policies & procedures allow management to guide operations without constant management intervention.

Procedures are there to give the reader a plan of action required to carry out a policy.

v Procedures will also help avoid common misunderstandings by identifying job responsibilities.

v Procedures allow managers to control events & prevent the organization (and employees) from making costly mistakes.

v “Policies are like a GPS where u can go for reverence to navigate.”

The difference between a policy & procedure.


Policies:
• Are general in nature.
• Identify company rules.
• Explain why they exist.
• Tells when the rule applies.
• Describes who it covers.
• Shows how the rule is enforcement.
• Describes the consequences.
• Are described using sentences & paragraphs.

Procedures:
• Identify specific actions.
• Explain when to take actions.
• Describes alternatives.
• Shows emergency procedures.
• Includes warning & cautions.
• Gives examples.
• Shows how to complete forms.
• Are written using an outline format.


Policies & procedures are required when there is a need for consistency in your day-to-day operational activities. Policies and procedures also provide clarity to the reader when dealing with accountability issues or activities that are of critical importance to the company, such as, health & safety, legal liabilities, regulatory requirements or issues that have serious consequences.
